I'm not a huge fan of the movie but this is a damn good DVD, especially considering the low price -- so I'm assuming if you liked the movie, you'll dig the DVD. The featurette ("A Piece of the Action") starts off as a masturbatory piece for director Ratner, but then gets good near the end when Ratner shuts up and the camera focuses in on the more interesting stuff, like how Jackie Chan stages the restaurant fight. Ratner's commentary is pretty awful; when he's not patting himself on the back ("ooh, this looks great") he's giving deep insights like "If you work with Chris Tucker, make sure to film him with two cameras." Yawn. Okay, whatever. His student film "Whatever Happened to Mason Reese?" is truly a big stinking turd. The other short "Luke Lee," an early shot-on-video "movie" (I use that term loosely), is even worse. After seeing the extras on here, I really seriously pondered how the hell Ratner got this job in the first place.
